Leirin
Leirin joined her first dance class when she was just 2 years old and she has been in love with all styles of dance ever since. Leirin grew up in Okotoks dancing at the Alberta Dance Academy before moving on to High River in high school to compete with Dance Tech Inc. As a senior, she trained under dedicated artists and choreographers including Amanda Messner, Josh McKinnon, Sho-tyme, Jake Poloz, and Paul Otterbein, all who remain influential mentors to this day. Leirin has competed across Alberta and British Columbia for years in Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary, Pointe and Musical Theatre, winning provincial and national titles in both group pieces as well as solos. She has also completed her advanced RAD Ballet exam, advanced ADAPT Jazz syllabus, and grade 8 Al Gilbert Tap.
Since graduating in 2019, Leirin moved forward in her professional career dancing in the University of Calgary Fine Arts program pursuing a Bachelors Degree in dance. She studied Contemporary, Jazz, and Ballet under artists such as: Wojciech Mochniej, Marie Forcier, and Michele Moss, mastering her skills in improvisation and the choreographic process. She also trained with the Calgary based hip hop company, illFX Education, in many styles including Vogue, House, Locking, Litefeet, Afro, working closely with Ajay Musodi, Katherine Burrowes, and Edgar Gilbert-Reyes.
Leirin’s love of dance performance on and off stage will always be part of her self-expression no matter where or who she is dancing for. It is what drives her and grounds her at the same time. She is eager and excited to share her love and passion for dance with the Pound-It team and she looks forward to being in the studio with you very soon!
